p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Valley of Fire

Took my family to Valley of fire over the weekend. We were there for a few hours during the midday when it was scorching hot and harsh light.

Thank for looking !

They look good in terms of the midday light, they don't feel harsh at all. But now some thoughts for you. #1 has the best potential here, but seeing the tops of those buildings and all in the middle of the shot really takes away from it. In #2, if you had gotten on the other side of the road, or directly in the middle of the road, it would have been much nicer. As it is, the road just seems to slice off the left side of the shot. #3, I would say forget the vertical unless you are going in tighter. Half of the shot is just a plain blue sky, not attractive. Cut off most of that blue sky. That bit of arch is where the action is, so I would say a horizontal shot instead that loses the very immediate foreground and starts right after the gully or crack.

Hope that helps,

Jim
