| p.1 #1 · Big Cats Showing their Teeth: Lion, Tiger and Cheetah |
I went to the Western Plains Zoo over the weekend to practice taking wildlife portraits. Here are some of the big cats.
I spent over 90 minutes observing a lion and lioness, and for my patience was rewarded with about 2 minutes of action (ie when they weren't lazing in the sun working on their tans).
The tiger was being a bit lazy and didn't want to eat his lunch.
The cheetah was either lazing in the sun or doing slow laps of his large island, so I got a better workout than he did running from one end of the viewing platform to the other (about 150m or 500ft) with my 5D3 and Sigma 120-300 (11lbs for that gear with another 10lb of gear on my back). Some shots were taken with either a 1.4x III or 2x III teleconverter attached.
