Howdy,
Harsha and I had planned on traveling to Magee to shoot Warblers. We were going to meet up with Troy, Karl, Larry, Al, and Mr. Bravo, but Troy called and said that the leaves on the trees had filled out so much that it was impossible to get many shots.
With that news, we decided to travel to Northwest Minnesota to shoot Prairie Chickens even though it was late in the breeding season.
We shot two evenings and two mornings. The shooting conditions were not ideal, but Wednesday morning it looked like we would get some early morning sun. Yep, the sun came out, but we had fog lying from ground level to about five feet high. The sun finally burnt off the fog and we were shooting for about 30 minutes in quality light and WHAM!. Our lenses were cold and they fogged up.
The Prairie Chickens arrived at the blind a good hour prior to sunrise and about an hour and one-half prior to sunset. Our blind was made for birders. It was about 4 X 6 foot with room for two photogs and only one tripod.
Here is some shots that were taken in quality light, cloudy skies, drizzle, and FOG!
More to come.
