Just wondering if anyone has done this and has any tips. It looks to be a little more challenging with the larger rear element. Haven't had any luck finding sources online.

I dont think that its possible to add any of the conventional [dandelion?] chips to this lens, as you've noticed the rear element is too large to accomodate one. Just have to live with what metering you can on the modern bodies, I understand this lens is a treat on the d700.

I think this is a difficult task. I want to do it but no courage for now... Look on this thread:http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1030&message=36768079&changemode=1

Yes, that's the only source where I've seen someone do it successfully, which is hopeful. thanks

I have my copy chipped by a friend. He had to grind a little bit of the glass.
All my MF lenses are (being) chipped, except the 16FE (it's a worn-out copy).

He even chipped the 58 Noct.

His nickname is 'doctor lens'. :-)

If you look at Rorslett's commentary, the 50/1.2 isn't one that lends itself to chipping. The NOCT can be but with serious surgery on the rear element, if you have the stomach to do that on a $3000 irreplaceable item.

Here's the topic of chipping the Noct.
I don't know if it's the paid part of the website.

Drop these guys an email. They replied to mine within a matter of hours and their rates seem very reasonable. Hope this helps.
