They are extremely skittish when they come to bathe. The slightest movement of my lens or the sound of the camera (in silent mode) sends many of them flying off. The rest of the time they are flopping and moving about very quickly. Then there are the times when they pose nicely for me for a second or two.
The 400mm shot required extension tubes, since it was the f5.6 prime.
Such a marvelous set of shots, so pleasing and enjoyable . I know you have posted your setup sometime ago, but I can not find it. Would you mind giving a link to it.

Absolutely beautiful! The flowing water adds a lot, but it must have been difficult to use a slow shutter speed and capture these tiny birds in such exquisite detail.
