Great shots Stan, did you use your 50L? ...
Lol. While I did pack most of my lenses, I must have forgotten the 50L at home...

Where did you get yours from Bones? I've been waiting for 6 weeks nearly for mine now!
Jessops New Oxford Street in London had one kit in stock. I had previously ordered a body only, waited 3 weeks, but I was out of the country when it was delivered so they couldn't hold it for me. Best thing to do is source a kit, and then sell the lens if you dont want it
Awesome! Body only? I'd have preferred that, but I got sick of waiting weeks and weeks. I wanted to make sure I got mine in time for the Queens Jubilee weekend. I just hope the predicted terrible weather holds off. Anyone found that newer 24-105's have a flimsier, cheaper feeling hood than a 2008 copy for eg? Somehow the older lens just feels more solid and better put together too. Could be my imagination.
I just hope my camera has had the light leak fix. Probably makes very little difference, but I'd feel better about it. I need to check the serial number... Anyway enjoy, looking forward to seeing some great shots from you Phil
Picked up mine yesterday. Having already tried one from the shop and having spent a CPS day with 5D3s and 1DXs, I somehow got the superstitious notion in my head that my very own had to be initiated with the very first shot being of a glorious duck, to bless the camera and ensure perfect shots for the rest of its life.
Yesterday it was already too late, and besides it was raining cats 'n dogs, so this morning, in rain and gray skies, I went to a nearby lake, hoping to spot a perfectly pearled rain-dropped drake. Hearing a low quack-quack, I crept to the edge of the water and promptly cracked my head on a low hanging limb. The only duck anywhere around, took off like a streak to the middle of the lake, quacking furiously at me and my cracked head... so I went home.
The sun is now out again, so this afternoon I'll go down to the river.
That is a great HDR shot. Can you tell me bit more about the shot? Is it several shots or one shot pushed in post? If it is several, did you use the camera's HDR selection or set the values manually? How many images?

It's a single shot, processed in LR. It's exposed so that the highlight at the hangar door aren't completely blown, then using the various adjustments and a gradient to brighten the right side (and to reduce the noise on the right).
Trying to re-discover my city this spring/summer through my new camera. Just switched from Sony to Canon after I dunked my A77 in the ocean (still feeling like a bit of a twit). The 5D3 is simply in another league and I'm having a blast with it. The availability of the system is really great as well, as I've already rented the 17mm tilt shift and 70-200 MkII from a local shop to play around with.
Hey Stan (or other kind soul ), can you help please? I just installed LR4, and it says the software is up to date. My 5Dmk3 RAW files aren't recognised. Whats going on
edit: Is it just the 4.1 "release candidate" that works with the 5Dmk3?
