Yes. The dynamic range of this image is very high, probably even beyond the capabilities of the D800 The MDD to the right is extremely well lit, with all lights at full power, while the SCA and Discovery to the left are in complete darkness. Therefore, I had to expose in such a way that the MDD isn't completely obliterated and then pull the left side with the SCA out of the darkness.
The other problem is that the right side is illuminated by mercury and xenon lights, which as artificial light goes are quite nice. The left side of the picture is illuminated by very faint sodium vapor lights (that are outside of the image frame to the right), which is by far the worst light man has ever invented, as they have petty much just a narrow yellow band of spectrum. Try to shoot something even in full power sodium light and then try to "make it look good" - not gonna happen.
