Yes, I was thinking a Golden-wing!
What is weird is I did see him, a lot, just did not get any pics. He was a regular old blue-wing. I was hoping that at least he was hybrid.

I'd be interesting to know if you definitely heard "bee buzz buzz" (sometimes 3 buzz's) and not a blue-wing song, because there is something known as a cryptic hybrid, which occurs when a golden/blue-wing hybrid backcrosses into the pure population. Which could be either a Golden-wing singing a Blue-wing song or a Blue-wing singing a golden-wing song(maybe what you saw?). DNA testing usually confirms birds that do this have a small amount of DNA introgression from the other species. I worked in an area w/ a lot of golden-wings and quite a few blue-wings, and I never did get a decent blue-wing shot!
