One of my favourite "hunting" trips is the American Bittern, from the kayak. This elusive bird is often located by it's very distintive call. This trip I managed to find a pair. The first one wasn't too co-operative and took off quickly. The other let me share some time observing this master of camouflage. These guys hide by mimicking their surroundings. The colours change a little in the series as it was 6:00 am and the sun was just cresting the hills.
