Went out for 2 hrs on Wed and managed to find some newly arrived birds...I have posted these over in the Canon forums but I'm sure some on here avoid that part of the boards

All were taken with the 5D3 and 100-400L. 5D3 actually managed to bring back a fairly good hit rate on the swallows. If it locked it got at least 50% in focus but trying to get initial lock was hard as those guys were going seriously fast and feeding off the surface.

I expect you are having to do a fair bit of cropping on these? I would also think it would be a bit harder to keep the focus point on a BIF with a FF than it would with a crop camera.

Tony, yeah I should maybe have brought along the 7D. Would have helped for the swallows but for the rest I still prefer using the 5D3 as I've always had a love/hate relationship with the 7D. All of these were good sized crops, probably 50-75% for most. My 600II is on order....waiting patiently for it as I'd rather shoot the longer lens on my 5D3 than use the 7D.
