I'll say it again-
It shows the persons ability,
Its not the lens or the body!

Really? I think that's what I just said! Perhaps you are too new here, and perhaps you don't realize I sold it to Michael with the assurance that if it were not the best lens he would ever own that he could send it back to me no questions. It is the lens coupled with his superb skills, if you had ever shot this lens you would fully understand

thanks Rich,
but no whiz bang pp, pretty straight out of the camera except a little darkening of the edges.
I used continuos af 21 pts, I would select the focus point, which was always on the rider.
AF lock on was set to Normal, which helped whever any rider would cross in front of the one I had my focus locked on.
Overall, extremely impressed with the camera's focus capability.
Why use 21 points instead of 51? I rarely shoot moving subjects so I'm very curious. I was pleased to know these were shot in matrix metering mode.

I did not mean to be disrespectful to you when quoting you stating that it's not the lens that makes the photos great, however when reading my post, I totally understand how you could be offended.
In fact, I really meant to quote the post above you that stated that it's the lens, not the body that really matters.
[my bad]
I was not trying to be disrespectful to that member either, just expressing my humble opinion that a sucky photographer such as myself would struggle to create such awesome images with any gear!
A stradivarius violin would sound like wet poop sharts in my arms!

Despite how incredibly capable these cameras are, it is possible for the situation's needs to overpower the AF engine's ability to compute solutions successfully if there is very-high-speed action and lots of variability. In such a case, and assuming that you can keep the subject reasonably steady in the frame, you can get better results by reducing the number of focus points considered from 51 to 21 (or in extreme cases, to nine).
By allowing the AF computer to completely ignore 30 points, you reduce its workload and thus increase the chances that it'll successfully lock AF on your intended target.
