D200 + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 400, 1/1000, f8, fill flash (SB910 + Better Beamer)
This tree swallow was perched on a cat tail at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Sanctuary here in New York City on Sunday. I waited for it to take off and in there usually zippy faction took off faster than I could react. I paned to the right hoping to catch up and when I saw its tail in my viewfinder held down the shutter to capture a burst. I saw this frame flash buy and then I saw empty blue sky and released the shutter having taken 3 frames. When reviewed I saw this and smiled. It appears that I caught the highly maneuverable bird stop in midair by popping its wings out. It lost all forward motion and then turned and flew behind me.
Well that’s the end of my tree swallow series. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have sharing.
Comments and suggestions welcome,
Morris
