p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · A tree swallow’s relief

All: D200 + 80-400 VR + 1.4x TC@ 560mm, ISO 800, 1/1000, f8, fill flash (SB910)

These were taken Friday morning at the Oceanside Marine Nature Study Area on Long Island, New York. This is the third of a series of tree swallow threads I’ll be starting and I promise they will not disappoint and will have a great ending.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

He's scratching his external auditory meatus! Where's a good Qtip when you need one!

More amazing swallow shots! Wow! I like the one where you can see the bird's ear. I also find this set interesting because you can see the tree swallow scratches with the leg pulled under the wing. (certain species pull the leg under the wing to scratch, and certain species raise the leg over the wing. The interesting part is that each species scratches one of these 2 ways, and never changed it up- in other words all tree swallows are under the wing scratchers, where as all Tennessee Warblers are over the wing scratchers) I don't know others find this interesting but I think it is.
