Taken from our front deck three days ago. Sent the number in and found out it was banded just north of us near Egigik Alaska five years ago as a two year old.
Looks like the one with the neck band is also sporting a leg band. Why would so many identifiers be necessary? I realize the neck band is more visible, but sometimes I think researchers go too far.

When I asked that same question I was told the neck band was to identify family groups and acquire location data while the bird was still alive.
