They are both great, but I slightly prefer #1... Nice clean background with colors that complement the kite's colors.

The first one is more balanced image as the whole tree top is positive space. When you close-up the two limbs, right and left of the perch, become negative space giving a less balanced feel. If you clone them out then the second image would be my favorite

In any case is a very pleasant capture with a great pose

I had a dilemma on the cropping with this shot because of the question of how much environment to include in the shot versus how much to feature the bird. I'm counting on you all to let me know your thoughts.
