Beautiful pictures and bird, I like the creamy background.

How is the AF speed and tracking o0f the 300mm F/4? did you have chance to use any of the converters with it?

Regards.

Marcelo, sorry I should have added that I had the x1.4 teleconverter on as well. The advice I received prior to buying it was that it would be a better combination with the 300mm than the x1.7 and certainly better than the x2, sharpness and IQ wise

Auto focus is very fast (well, I used to use a very old 70-210mm so anything would impress me after that I guess )

Haven't tried tracking anything with it yet - I almost tried it on some butterflies in flight, but it was a bit long and heavy. Good for flowers too as it throws the b/g oof nicely.

Thanks Morris

Two very nice images, Alan. Seems we have the same set up.
My findings are that if I shoot objects that are further away than 5 meters I have to stop down do at least f8 to really get them sharp.
Sounds familiar?
Cheers Chris

Good work, Alan. The second image shows off the spectacular coloring best IMO.
What a delightful little bird.

Thanks again everyone.

Chris, it's still a bit new to me. I haven't noticed, but I will check it out now you've mentioned it.
