Had these on my bucket list for a while. Mostly they just don't let you walk up to them or pose but this guy was more cooperative than most.
Front View.
nice work - the bird in #1 looks a bit skeptical of you - clearly though he didn't seem to mind you too much as he stuck around long enough for a variety of fine shots.
I have Yellow shafted Northern Flickers in my backyard. A pair of them in fact.
I have tried everything to bring them to a perch......... Damn things won't come near the house and every time you walk out the back door they are G O N E !!!!!
Glad you can wipe this one off your bucket list!!! Hopefully you have plenty of time to fill the bucket again and try something else
Great job at getting close and great images.
I was shooting these at Xmas time while at my partner's parent's farm in BC but they were so skittish I couldn't get within 100ft of them before they flew to another tree or post. I never got more than 15% of the frame filled with them.
Thanks everyone. You have to love it when you find a cooperative subject! This one was special because he flew over to the other side of the road which was slightly elevated and started poking around. I could stand in the road and he was 10 feet away and at eye level the whole time.
