I need to shoot some product demo videos. Currently I have a D2X and a small Canon camcorder. One is to upgrade my D2X, the other is I don't want to spend $1500 - $2000 for another HD camcorder.
Has anyone ordered and received your D800 from B&H? What would be a typical waiting time?

i would also check your local craigslist...out here in the sf bay area there have been several popping up, if you don't mind paying a premium...there seem to be willing sellers.

You're dreaming if you think you will get one that quick unless like has already been mentioned about paying the scalpers on ebay. I've had mine on order with B&H since 11:00pm PST Feb 6th and still can't get any idea of when I will receive it. B&H says they have no clue and Nikon USA doesn't have the decency to come forward and tell it's loyal customers what to expect. For me, I can deal with the wait, but the frustration lies around how no one has any information regarding an expected delivery, not B&H or Nikon. What an efficient supply chain eh!!!!!

What you need to do is Say I will give X number of dollars for one and see what turns up. I bet if you offered say $3700-$3800 one would turn up, Otherwise you may have to wait 3-9 months.BTW I got mine on FEB 22 the day they were released from my local camera shop. Was on there list since last August.They got 2 cameras and there the largest Nikon dealer in OK. Last time I was there they had no idea when they would get more. These will be on backorder for a year or so.

Even the mom and pop shops are getting the run around. Every time they contact Nikon, they tell them maybe in another week or two. Two weeks pass and they tell them, maybe in another week or two. Who knows when we will see them in mass. I just hope I get mine by the end of June for my vacation. Granted I just put mine on order a week ago, estimates are late May for those orders.

What the heck! I am completely surprised how hot this camera is. I had owned several Nikon DSLR cameras D1X, D2X, D2Xs.....but have never seen this madness.Is it really worth the wait? It is insane.

Just talked to my dealer here in OKC they got 2 more in but of course there gone. Again said no idea when they would have more and the waiting list has doubled since release. Only reason I got mine on release date is I had money down since last August.
I want a Hasselblad H4d-60, but I don't NEED one.
