p.1 #1 · SD as reliable as Compact Flash ?

I didn't have to think about this until I got a D800 but now I'm faced with the question of buying bigger memory cards to handle the 36Mo and my spontaneous choice was Compact Flash, but I see that SD cards are much cheaper.

I would have thought that SD are more fragile, anybody have any feedback on this topic or link to a similar discussion ?

Thanks

Mark

After a few years using both CF and SD cards I have seen no prove that one is more reliable than the other. I use Sandisk cards only.

So far, I haven't bent any pins in the D700. YET. SD is far more robust for me. Speed really doesn't matter to me. Landscapes and still life don't usually move around a lot. Downloading to the puter is usually sandwich gathering time anyway.

I've dropped both from various heights, wash n' dried 'em all at one time or another
(did finally stop the cell phone pants pocket routine) ...and they've all been perfect.
I've never had a problem with either a CF/SD card and I'm good for an avg. 60K a year.
Perhaps it's the lack of dust

from a mechanical standpoint i go with CF it is a more robust design overall. i have split 2 SD cards on their seams in about 8 years. i had one bent pin in a CF reader about 10 years ago. repaired that myself
