A friend of mine who works for a Diving team
worries about the "infra-red cameras" that
apparently is on the market. He worries because those cameras could
"see" underneath the bathing suits...

Do you know anything about this? is it something to find on the market?

any idea?

Totally blown out of proportion

Certain cameras Sony (perhaps others) used to make had the ability to remove the IR cut filter and also had an IR illuminater which allowed the camera to shoot in visible darkness.

Certain fabrics reflected a lot of IR light, so under certain settings something like a polyester bra could show up through a sheer blouse, but only under those conditions.

Your friend has as much to worry about as those people who mailed in for the "xray" glasses at the back of comic books

This has been a common claim for "X-ray" eye glasses in comics and (Mad) magazines since the sixties. Apparently, it stil is.

P.S. exactly why is your friend worried?

What makes him think anyone would *want* to see under his bathing suit?

This reminds me of the stories going around that child molesters have cameras that can take naked photos of little kids.

Couldn't any camera take a photo of a naked little kid?

Must be April 1st.

Yes, any camera can take a photo of a naked kid, but only perverts have cameras that can see through their clothes! Seriously, some people actually believe this one.

This one was reported by a friend's daughter-in-law. She was studying to become a cop, and this one, though totally false, is still believed and reported to the police.
