Thanks, that's the conclusion I've come to.

Cool! - I find my eye wandering towards the lower left due to the streaks of the water even though there is nothing really there. If you had cropped off the bottom I don't think it would have that effect.

If I have framing conundrums I usually forget the rule of thirds and just crop until it clicks with me and then leave it at that. Framing can be such a subtle thing!

It sure can. Sometimes it just clicks, other times, I go back and forth. I think I will go back to it in Lightroom in a few days and give it another shot. I have that same problem...my eye goes to the left and it wants to find something. I appreciate the input, John.

Although it maybe these old eyes playing with me. I've looked through these threads in their entirety and not having owned or used either of these bodies (D800 - D800E) and not knowing what post processing has been done of images in either thread. I have to say that I see a dramatic and stunning difference in the quality and vibrant snap to the images in these 2 threads.

IMHO, I'm stunned by the 800E... It makes even the most common placed images knock you in the shorts.

I just see a huge difference between these 2 bodies browser viewing notwithstanding.

A few aurora shots with the D800 and 24-70G from Saturday--my first ever attempts at aurora photography, actually. Too bad about the clouds...

More of my favorite birds at my favorite pond.

I absolutely LOVE the D800... so happy I pulled the trigger and upgraded from my beloved D300.

Great shots! Especially like the first, with that nice green OOF background. That dowitcher pops off the screen.

I'm actually speechless regarding the files that come out of this camera. DESTROYS Canon's files.

I'm utterly in love with my D800 + SIgma 70-200 f/2.8 OS combo... Can't think of why I should have bought the Nikon VR2!

Any idea what kind of bird this is?
