I went out today to do some street shooting. I had the camera around my neck and used the iOS Camera App to control the camera and shutter. I liked this idea for more discreet shooting. While people might look at me and the camera, they only thought I was looking at my iPhone. This worked very well except that I was walking most of the time so some shots didn't come out in focus. However, this was my first attempt at shooting this way.

Damn, I would have never thought of that Great idea.

Talk about candid Bob! Can you focus with the app as well?

Yes you can! You simply tap on the iPhone screen where you want to focus. It's not as precise and when people are moving it's even tougher. However, I shot in manual mode with auto ISO so I could close down aperture to get more in focus. Yesterday was very overcast so I shot mostly around f/5.6. I'll continue to play but I was pleased for this first attempt.

Was it responsive enough that people were in the photo where they were on your phone screen?

x-t1 and nikkor-o 35mm pre-AI. Processed with VSCO 5 and I really like the colours it gives.

There is a slight lag . . . they were moving, I was moving so they appeared in a slightly different place. It would be minimized if I were standing still.

Bob - hope they make the app so you only have to tap once to start focus and take the shot. And maybe faster wifi will make the lag virtually non-existent! Anyway, great for low tripod shooting!

While it's not a one touch like the Olympus OMD-EM5, it's certainly usable and I'm quite excited by the prospects. A little more getting to know strengths and weaknesses, a little practice, a little patience and I think this is certainly something I can use successfully.

If anyone is still on the waiting lists for an X-T1 kit, try Pictureline, (www.pictureline.com), in Utah.
It was my first time to deal with them, and I have to say that it was a real pleasure! Nice people, no pressure, and they had a good stock of kits. Highly recommended!

I'm going to try and hold out on the X-T1 until the next round of sales. Maybe save $100. Don't think I'll make it past July, though.

I couldn't wait - I just hit up the B&S here (plus wanted to stretch the budget). With some patience, got the XT1 with grip and extra wasabi battery for basically $1170, not too shabby!

If you have any Fuji body, but don't own the 56 1.2, you're making a terrible mistake.

Agreed, it's a hell of a lens. So far I don't miss my full frame Canon kit at all.

These were with the 56 wide open. I honestly don't see any difference in sharpness wide open or closed down, it's incredible.

Yeah probably my next lens, but it'll be a long while in coming.
