I'd vote the xm-1, esp considering it will be JPEG usage. Fuji's JPEG processing on these sensors is pretty darn good... And judging by the discounted sales price of the XA1, I'd guess they are considering dropping the bayer sensor out of their lineup...

If your main camera is the T1, I think it would simplify processing and your presets to get the M1.

If it's for the wife it'll be JPEG only. Looking at the price, the X-A1 is $449, but there's a like new X-M1 on Amazon for $511 as opposed to $599 new. So for about $60 I can get the X-M1 for the X-Trans sensor.

My thoughts
- X-M1 is x-trans, so is the X-T1. Might be nice to have simliar rendering.

I'm in exact same predicament as I currently do not have any camera body but 35mm and 27mm on the way. Since my main concern is price (because second body might not be used too much after getting X-T1) I'm thinking about getting X-A1 (unless there is a good deal on X-M1).

Could always get a used XE1 as a backup, cheaper than both of those you are looking at. Just a thought. I loved my XE1, wish I still had it.

I have a question for all you Fuji RAW shooters. Last year, I owned the X100s for a few weeks, but the "painterly" effect in RAW file processing was a bit too much for me. I am intrigued by the new XT-1 model, so I am curious if RAW processing issues are still present with Fuji files or if these issues have been fixed. I use Lightroom 4 exclusively. Thanks!

I was in your shoes for about a week. I decided on the X-M1, because of all the good things I've heard about the X-Trans sensor. I feel like I need a refreshing look than the Canon DSLR's I'm used to.

I also happened to find an amazing deal from another person - used and supposedly mint condition, $450 for the body and 16-50 lens. I should be receiving it next week and I will be a happy, happy man

Well, Lightroom 4 won't process any of the new Fuji cameras, so you'd need to upgrade to 5. The current LR is much better than it used to be, but it's still not as good as some others. In the vast majority of shots it does a very nice job, but it can still get funky in the right circumstances. I use C1 Pro for those times (and for high ISO stUff, since C1 just does an awesome job for high ISO images (for all cameras).

Thanks for your reply! So in your opinion between LR5 and C1 I should be able to expect the same level of quality as I am currently getting on my Nikon RAW files in LR4?

Not answer for him, but I would guess so. When I get a particularly stubborn image, I break out DCRaw to get a TIFF and then bring it into LR or whatever.

Where can I find X-E1 cheaper than X-M1/X-A1? The way I see it, I can just buy the X-A1 kit and sell the kit lens making the overall cost cheaper.

I have seen used XE1's here for $375 or less. Your idea to buy the kit and sell the lens is probably a good one (the kit lens isn't bad, might be good for your wife).

I think you can find a used, mint XE1 for around $350-400 here, and at this price, it's a steal, a better camera than XA/XM1 I guess.
I really love my XE-1. I preordered XT1 and even when I get my XT1, I won't sell my XE1 and will use it as a second camera.

Very nice! I think X14mm will be my next lens, or 10-24mm.

I will be holding on to mine as well... (Unless I find an XE2 at a price I can't refuse!

My old XE1 is the only camera I have regretted selling.

I was going to sell my X-E1, since I shoot with the E2 for most things and grab my X-M1 when I want something smaller, but given the current prices, it's worth more as a backup. I'll probably only take it out once every few months, but it'll be nice to have an EVF backup should my X-E2 go down. I'll sell it if I pick up an X-T1 in the future...I don't think I need 4 bodies.

Make sure you like your XE2 first before selling XE1 because some people say the skin colors are quite different between two sensors at high ISO as I read ;-)
Me too, I will make sure I like JPEG colors of XT1.

Love my X-E1. And for the current price, I think it's the best camera for the buck.

Just pulled the string on the X-M1 for $511. Figured that if I was going to use it even 10% of the time, it'll be nice to have the same sensor in the X-M1 and the X-T1. The GR is going on the B&S boards as soon as I get the X-M1.
