Wilbus, thank you for you comment. This house is in Tondano, Sulawesi (Indonesia). It is somewhat famous, many people want to take picture of it. Made by "kayu ulin" which is as tough as steel and waterproof. Nowadays it's very difficult to get this kind of wood out of Kalimantan.
It's probably the windows as you've suggested.

As far as the weird look though the windows. It could just be the windows. The windows in my apartment are impossible to shoot out of, they are curved in all different ways. Granted they are from the 1920's but still... or so they say at least. It could partly be to the fact that I haven't cleaned them for 7 years either because I like the way they diffuse the light coming in to my one room, makes it nice to work with natural light in here
