Thanks, the DR of the X-E1 is impressive - it really shows in shots like this.

I really love the output from that Nikkor 55mm f/3.5.

Any shots of the camera with the lens mounted?

I forewarned you that it wasn't pretty . Its quite light for a macro lens.

Everyone should go to the Fuji website and do the July firmware update. It's really quite good, and now we get focus peaking and faster AF that locks more frequently in low light.

My initial impressions are definitely positive. I also started a separate thread to discuss it so that we don't totally flood the image thread: http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1228939

Xe-1 with a Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/4. hand held before firmware update.

New firmware updates are done, I just need to get out & shoot some and see how they all go.

I'm very sorry for the recent amount of posting, but I'm having a hard time getting my head around how amazing the OOC jpegs are! A slight crop, shadow lifting, and resizing for web was all it took to make me happy with these. Shot with an X-E1 and the 18-55 kit lens

Little SOOC JPEG action, XE1 with Minolta 35-70/3.5 macro. Got the little EOS-M in today (bought for my inlaws) and thought I'd 'do a shoot'

A British retailer is now taking pre-orders for the last three XF lenses, which are predictably the most expensive.

My rough math:

23mm f/1.4: $849
10-24mm f/4 OIS: $999
56mm f/1.2: $999

I honestly would be very surprised to see the 10-24 in that range. While it has IS, full frame f/4 ultra-wide zooms are typically in the $700-$800 range. I'd be very surprised to see it push $1K, given the 14/2.8's $900 tag. (Unless they view it as superior optically to the 14, which would be a tough thing to do). Of course, Nikon's 16-35 f/4 VR is $1250, but for some reason I just don't see it. All the other top UWA zooms for mirrorless are in the same $650-$900 range. Sony's 10-18mm f/4 with IS is $850.

The 23/1.4 is what I would have considered a hopeful price. About right, I expect it at $900. The 56/1.2 I could see at $1K, but I hope it too is in the $800-900 range. Mainly because it's the one I definitely want out of those three. The 23 would be cool, but I don't shoot 35mm very often, so it'd be hard to justify the price...the 10-24 is just going to be too darn big. All the mockups have it as the same size as something like the Tokina 12-24...just too big for a mirrorless kit, IMO.

No disagreement here. I would suspect the XP1 successor will be announced later this year, and there could be some body + lens deals that make the lenses cheaper. The 10-24 is an interesting lens - I am reserving judgment until I see what it can do (compared to the 14mm).

This is being cross posted with the Leica R lens thread and it is the first in a series of sunset photos that I took early evening on July 21 from the roof of the Trexler Nature Preserve, Schnecksville, PA. Image taken with tripod mounted Leica 280mm f4 Apo Telyt lens (equivalent to 420mm on full frame 35mm camera) and Fujifilm X-E1 camera, ISO 200 at 1/60 second. Other images to be posted later as I complete processing the images. Image processed in LR5.

This image was taken the first time that I have been out to take photos since May 10 which predated my Quadruple Bypass Heart Surgery on May 22. So, please give me a little time to process the other images (especially as I am trying to get out to take more images).

Rich

Beater lens are sometimes best. Not suprisingly there is usually good reason why they look well used. I saw something like that with 50/2 Cron, it looked like it went through few wars, no Leica red dot, loose focus ring, but glass was close to perfect and it had ridiculously good performance. Unfortunately not for sale.

Fuji is continuing to release (or at least announce) compelling lenses. All three of the coming few are interesting to me.

But the prices, at least as currently expected, are too high for me to justify. I'd rather add a used RX1 as yet another camera in my collection (which includes 5D2 & X-E1; I'd keep both) than add the 23mm f/1.4 + 56mm f/1.2 at ~$2k.

I mean, I can always pick up a used 85mm f/1.8 (~$300) for my 5D2 if I really want a fast, low DOF, mid-tele portrait lens-- with higher resolution files. And my current 35L on FF (or Sigma's $899 35mm f/1.4), or the RX1's FF 35 f/2 already does the fast 35mm job at their respective sizes with higher resolution files as well.

To be compelling to me (not you) I think they need both the 23mm and 56mm fast lenses to come in closer to the $699 range new, with the UWA zoom more like $799-$899. The current 18mm, 35mm, and even 14mm have anchored my expectations, and I thought they were priced about right.

I don't think these are going to be the final prices. I think for now they're just estimates that will be revised when the actual lenses are announced. I can see the 23mm f1.4 being between $799-899. I think Fuji is going to be pricing this higher simply because they know that the demand is strong for this focal length. I would expect the 10-24mm f4.0 to be priced similar to other wide angle APS-C zooms like close to the $850 for the NEX 10-18mm lens. The 56mm f1.2 is probably going to $899-$999 based on the slightly higher prices it seems for fast mirrorless portrait lenses like $899 for Nikon's 32mm f1.2 for Nikon 1 and what's probably going to be a somewhat high price for Panasonic's 42.5mm f1.2 O.I.S. for m4/3.
