Helena, I went out on beautiful winter's solstice day, below zero to start but lovely and bright all day.
Took the RX1 and the XE1.
The Fuji is interesting but I really love the Sony.
I will put up some photos from both cameras, the Sony will go onto the appropriate thread.

That's a really nice set! Great colors and textures.

There are some things the X-E1 does better (being able to use different focal lengths of course, but also colors in some situations, that it has a built-in EVF etc.), but overall RX1 will probably continue to be my favorite too. It's too early to tell though. Anyway, they are meant to compliment each other, so fortunately I won't have to choose.

Helena, the tones in the first one are fantastic. Great image!

Thank you! I played with the WB in Lightroom, and also a bit of split toning.

I found 135mm a little difficult to use with my X-E1 because of the combination of EVF/LCD refresh speed (not fast enough). I tried my EF 135L w/ adaptor before I sold the lens.

Really? The minolta 135 is one of my favorite.

Two shots. First with the 18-55 in bulb (secured on tripod using my hand). Second is with adapted Minolta 600mm f/5.6, probably at around f/11 I'm not sure.

For some reason the 600mm isn't quite hitting infinity focus correctly. I thought at first it was the NEX adapter I had used on my NEX5N, but now on the Fuji same thing - it just gets barely close, but not quite infinity. I took apart the front element assembly but there's no way to adjust it, that I know of. Ah well.

On my way to work this morning, I found this armchair just sitting right in the middle of an abandoned parking lot. I use this lot to sometimes cut around traffic to get to a side road, and it's never been there before...but today, there it is, just sitting right in the middle of the lot.

Hell yes, easier AF selection coming tomorrow, about damn time. It's really too bad Fuji doesn't remove it's head from it's arse and do things the EASY way.

1) They plan to allow an Fn function of "AF selection". And, they plan to allow you to make the Down arrow another "Fn" button.

That's all good, but it would have been much more intuitive to just enable the AF selection full-time using the 4-way, then allow the "AF" button to become Fn2 essentially.

Holy hell people, it's not hard ><

This is like my biggest complaint about the Fuji system that I have to use two hands to change af points. I would rather prefer it works as you suggested.

Except that the buttons already have functions - left/right adjusts shutter speed and up enables/disables macro mode.

...Meaning they could enable a "full time" mode on the 4-way

I mean, c'mon, they launch the X system as a higher-end enthusiast compact and put in a "macro" button, really? The logic is perplexing. (that said, I didn't realize left/right was shutter adjustment until you said it Which is fine, I've been living off of full stop shutter adjustments just dandy haha). Maybe let the rear wheel adjust shutter in 1/3 stops in the "full time" AF mode when not in magnify view.

In other news, just updated to 1.06, the default down arrow going to AF selection makes the camera 10 times easier to select the AF point!

It's not as fast as I would want it (you have to wait a mini-second before the AF box selection appears, but I'm testing in a cave so maybe that's slowing the camera down), but it's a HELL of a lot better than jamming my thumb up my nose.

Now Fuji, repeat after me "minimum shutter selection with AutoISO". You can do it
