Voigtlander Color ultron 55mm 1.4 AR lens on a 550d with some nice sharp pictures, quite hard to get focus at 1.4 though! You can see the third picture is just off, but overall like the rendering.

Apart from some sharpening in the 3rd picture as I missed the focus but liked the shot, there actually isn't any post processing in these images, don't know if i can afford any lenses at the moment

PP or no PP?
My opinion is that there are no images without PP; something is bound to happen in the camera, no?
Bif; what OBVIOUS PP do you notice in the images? I can maybe see a few sharpening artifacts (may be straight out of the camera anyway) and a lack of PP in the last one where one could try to do something about the motion blur (at 1/1000 sec). The third and the fourth images are quite contrasty compared to the other ones, are they really wide open? The second one is obviously not, perhaps only the last one?
I don't think these samples show super quality at f/1.4 but that's partly another discussion.

Yeah, I think not "super quality" too. But I think it's a "good lens" for the $90 - $150 range they usually go for. No?
Oh, as far as PP goes there are whole color bands missing from a few of the images leaving "holes" in the sky - which kinda looks like noise to the untrained eye. There's also color banding in some areas as a result of similar manipulations. I'd say the only one that might not have PP on it is #2.
It's fine if he edited them but the "no PP" remark isn't needed really.

Or perhaps an average lens considering the price? A little soft but with pleasing bokeh, judging from these samples.
My eye is totally untrained then, I miss everything.

This is the 'Made in Germany' Model which I get the impression is slightly harder to find in comparison to made in japan, correct me if i'm wrong - i would like to learn more about this lens and overall was quite pleased with the result seeing as it obviously isn't designed for this camera.
I forget about processing in the camera i had all levels set to zero if I remember correctly and was a little scarce on memory so just shot jpeg, raws would probably be better test material, but ho hum.

I have the Ultron 50/1.8 but have never got round to using it - too many lenses and little time. I hope you like the lens and find the way to use it to its best advantage. It is a good start in alt lenses! I started with Contax 50/1.7 if my memory is right.

OK. I will easily concede in this case!

Cheers,
Or it might be that your monitor isn't calibrated well enough to see it. If you're interested in seeing where the color channel information was before it was erased just load any of the dog shots into ACR and turn down the brightness to -100. Setting the same value in photoshop using the (non legacy) Brightness/Contrast will show the same. If his camera (the Canon EOS Kiss X4) did that it needs to be repaired.

I think of these forums as a good place to show pictures, look at pictures and learn.
Not really no.
This site is geared toward gear assessment and acquisition which are usually the steps taken after one learns the basics. Scan any of the sub-forums here and you'll see n00bs get little or no love, advice, or direction. I'm not an elitist but I kinda like it this way. It keeps the site free of the litter other sites drown in - paging through countless threads of n00b snaps and barely finding anything that shows off the equipment or allows people to make a fair assessment of the equipment or techniques that were used - because the person using it didn't really know how to. It's good to have places like this! You wouldn't want Jr. high school students in your 4th year chemistry class at university for the same reason. About the closest this site gets is the https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/4 Photo Critique sub board - and even there most of those guys are refining their PP excellence; not many n00bs around.
There are some very good sites for n00bs tho! Try http://www.thephotoforum.com/forum/ TPF. Nice friendly people more than willing to teach the art, guide, advise, and direct!

my experience on FM forums has been different, For example I recently purchased a Tilt and Shift lens, I received info and advice before purchasing as well as learning mucho from other Tilt and Shift users since I began using the lens.

My monitor is a recently calibrated aRGB thing and I usually spot artifacts and color shift with no problems. My color vision is only 95% good though, or I was tired, or my calibration hardware has gone havoc, or perhaps all of it.
I tried your tip in Photoshop and saw what you were talking about. Amazing. Then I took my cirrent camera (an outdated G1 while waiting for the OMDEM5). I set it to JPG and aimed it towards the horizon with a WA lens on it. Fiddling with the resulting images (0EV, +1EV +2EV) showed no such strange things.
Are you saying you spotted the problem at once and without checking the image in your editor?

Wow, what's w/ all the negative waves?
If YOU like the results, then they ARE good.
If looking for critique, good luck with that!
No one liked any of the soft focus nor UNprocessed photos I was trying to show before, so you won't win that game either...
BTW, those images look fine to me.

I just thought as there are not many sample pictures of this particualar lens on the internet, it would be nice to put some up. Of course i am not a pro, this is just so others who may be interested in this or similar lenses can see what it delivers on a standard camera
