***WARNING*** ZOO SHOTS! If you are not fond of shots taken at a zoo, look no further. I have tried to make them look like they were not taken in a zoo. I spent the bulk of a day at the Lowland Gorilla exhibit at the WAP last week. Here are a few of the shots I came up with. C&C always welcomed.
Great set, Jim. I love the WAP too. The WAP does a great job of giving the animals a natural habitat and space. #5 & 7 are my favorites. Did you get to see the lions? They are amazing as well, especially when they have babies.
Nancy
@ Sevan, the old gal in this pic was almost all gray. I believe she is around 54 years old!
@ Nancy, I walked by them on the way to the cheetah run, but did not stop there. I literally spent an entire day in front of the gorillas, with the exceptin of about 10 minutes by the cheetah exhibit.

The Cheetah's are great too. I enjoyed your Gorillas.
Zoo shots are prefectly fine, Jim -- as long as they're advertised as such. Though in most cases it would be pretty hard disguise the fact. And zoo shots are good for practicing animal portraits, as you've done. These are all well-done, good exposure, lots of detail.
I stayed to watch the cheetah run. It was pretty impressive, and over in a FLASH! The sound of the cat's feet pounding the grass, and the grass flying behind it was amazing! I was able to get a few shots off, but they are kind of soft. Turns out is was not easy to have the AF lock onto a cheetah weaving down the course at 70 MPH!!! Here are two of the ones that turned out better than the rest.
My head shot of Winston in photo #1 is up for one of the shots of the week for the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. If you would be so kind to go to their Facebook page and vote for my Winston shot I'd appreciate it. I'm currently running 2nd behind a pretty good shot of one of the lions. once you get the five photos up on your computer, just "Like" my pic and it will get the vote.
