Can anyone point me to an online seller of mat board larger than 30x40"?

I need just one mat cut to accommodate a 24x36" print... and I'd like them to cut it.

Thanks,

Chris

A local framing shop should be able to order you as big as 48x96 in 4 or 8 ply. I could give you the name of my framer, but you really want someone local who can order from the wholesaler and have it delivered locally.

Because oversize mat boards (and museum glass) are special orders, you may have to order several sheets in one order.

I think the reason is that it requires special packaging and handling for even one mat to keep it flat and not bent or crunched. Thus shipping costs soon add up for it to be prohibitive for a single mat.

However, a local framer might have one on-hand or be willing to let you piggyback one of his orders.

I'd give framedestination.com a call. They do custom mats for a $2.50 setup charge per size (not per mat).

Are you sure you only want a 2" mat border on each size with a print that big?
I would consider mounting the print and using spacers between the print and the glazing like so: http://www.joereifer.com/words/2010/10/19/how-to-frame-photos-without-a-mat/

The spacers can also be purchased through Frame Destination (best to call them).

Hey Mr Joe,

The print is 24x36, and I want 4-5" mat boarder all around, so this pushes the mat dimensions to about 28x44"

Thx

For a 24x36 print and a 4" mat border, you'd need a 32x44 mat and frame (4 inches on each side).

32 x 44 inches is the standard size of a mat board anyway. For example, Savage sells that size.
