Anyone know if LR4 can output to the canon ipf5100 using 16bit drivers?

Canon has a 16bit plugin for CS so you can print to ipf5100 with 16bit drivers but I'm wondering if LR 4 can do it.

I'm also using PC Win7.

Thanks,
Rick

Not sure about the ipf5100, but my ipf6100 and LR-4 will print in 16bit mode with the latest Canon Drivers running on OS-X Lion.

I was under the impression that Win7 could not even use 16-bit drivers.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: No. Even if Lightroom supported it, which Adobe says it still doesn't, Microsoft opted to create an independent, incompatible pipeline for high-precision printing (similar to their 32/64 bit strategy). Utilizing this pipeline requires its own special drivers which Canon does not provide for their flagship professional printers.

Widespread 16-bit printing is pretty much Mac OS X or bust. It's painful on Windows, so the state of affairs at this point is that the application developers aren't investing the time because it's painful and no printers support it, and the printer manufacturers aren't investing the time because it's painful and no applications support it.
