Adobe released Lightroom 4 yesterday. It's available already as a download from Adobe store.
Amazon and B&H etc. will have it March 10-12 in stock.

Does anyone know why it is $100 cheaper then LR3? Or am I seeing it wrong?

damn...i fell for the Adoram deal and now i have paid $10 more than if I just waited. So far so good. LR4 is nice. Havent noticed anything noteworthy yet, other than some new terminology Develop panel and a few new tabs to play with (books!!)

You know what would be a handy addition to the forum? A thread where people post up their Nikon LR presets to share with others.
I'm no expert, but there are others here that I'm sure have created some great presets which I'm sure they wouldn't mind sharing

Me too.

Adobe's product page says Vista is the minimum requirement, though I don't know if that means "doesn't work or won't install on XP" or just "we won't support you on XP."

It seems that they have removed support for XP altogether, as well as removing support for non-64 bit Macs. [As in won't install on either.]

+1 There is not enough profit to offer and support its products on out-dated OS. Those who are happy with these older OS can continue using products like LR3, which is still a good program.

So my question was kind of glanced over, is it worth the upgrade from LR3? I think the book feature would be nice but I can purchase/make templates for photoshop

yes.

both recovery system are maxed out.

Lr4 gets rid of the haziness, has more tones recovered in the highlights.

edit:I looked for a way to get new templates in, looks like a no-go on the beta version.

Maybe it's time to tone down the snarky comments for things one has no clue about.

I've thought a lot about it and made the decision that's best for me.

Until you're ready to buy me a replacement for the high-end Heidelberg scanner that will never be supported on anything beyond XP I'll gladly discard such comments. I choose the options that make the most of my money; pointless (to me) OS upgrades and the hardware required by them isn't one of them.
