Excellent series! I'm surprised you haven't received more replies though.

Thanks a lot Nick!
Well, this is the third post of these trains. Keith and Todd have already posted so people may be getting tired of seeing them..

Love the shots I am working on my night shooting

What made the swirled stars in pic number 3?

Thanks!
The star trails are from using a really long exposure. That was about a 45 to 60 minute long.
But for that shot I actually stacked a bunch of 30 second exposures and blended them(stacked).
I would have preferred shooting more north, to get the north star(Polaris) in the shot. Then you can get a nice full circle of star trails like this. But I couldn't get a good composition for that here.

I'll work on my watermark and shrink it down some next time.

Well done on the whole series. The long exposures, the HDR processing, and the low angles.

Most of the shots are between 20 and 30 seconds. Looks like Flickr is not keeping the EXIF info.

And BTW, Texas State Railroad is having "RailFest" in May. They will be hosting a night shoot of these trains open to the public if anyone is interested. FM'ers Todd and Keith will be out there.

Very cool!
Be sure to bring some kind of lighting with you(flash lights, speed lights, etc). If the trains are getting hit with ambient light from street lights at an odd angle you'll want something for fill.
