Brunelleschi knew how to detail a building. After designing and building the dome, he actually had to submit designs in a competition for the Lantern. No respect.

Judging by the graffiti, I'd say a lack of respect unfortunately continues.

It seems maybe that the Italians have a different take on graffiti, we saw it everywhere. For some reason it did not seem as obnoxious as when i see it in the states, I don't know why.
It did not seem like "de-facing", more about communication.
