p.1 #1 · Best looking - D4 v 1Dx

Ok, just some light hearted fun. This is not meant to be serious and is not meant to cause a Nikon v Canon riot.

I think the 1Dx v D4 technical discussions have been done to death, but what about the looks department. Whilst we all wait patiently for our new dream machines to hit the streets lets have a little vote to see what we think is the better looking machine.

This is just for fun but do feel free to explain your choice if you want to. Remember, this is not a debate about which camera is better technically so don't be afraid to vote for the Canon if you think it is better looking.

I've seen both in person, the D4 wins the sexy contest hands down.

I like how the D4 is the winner on the Nikon sub-forums and the 1D-x is the winner on the canon sub-forums.

I vote for the D4 because it looks alot tougher, although I do like both.

Of course. I was expecting nothing less, and I think it would have been a white wash if 'Monito' hadn't felt the need to bring it to everyone's attention on both threads that I am running the poll on both boards. Bit of a shame really.

Of course we now have Canon users coming over to vote on this thread and Nikon users voting on the other thread.

I prefer the lines of the 1DX, particularly the contours off the mirror box casing. All the 1D-series bodies have been absolute beasts.

Looks are one thing functionality is another. The D4 just looks so much easier to navigate.

The 1DX kind of has a fivehead going on. Button layout looks relatively terrifying, too.

1Dx looks better. D4 is too bulbous.

I agree with both kinconorb and miloz but familiarity has the biggest part to play with button layout navigation. Those familiar with the 'Nikon way' would naturally be confused with Canons layout and vice versa.

I suspect a Canon user would say the 1Dx looks so much easier to navigate.

I think the Canon design/shape makes it look like a brick. The Nikon just seems to flow a bit more and makes me want to handle (caress ) it more.

Got to be the D4 for me. The Canon somehow reminds me of Maximilian the robot from 'The Black Hole'.......

definitely the D4 is the clear winner, to this date canon has yet to design a camera that looks anything other than a plastic fisher price toy

I prefer the more sculpted lines on the Nikon's pentaprism, the 1Dx's remind me of an old Ford Taurus. Too rounded and bar soap like.

I'm not sure how I feel about the extreme side placement of the screen on the Canon, reminds me of the Borg for some reason.
