Check out this re-spray job on the legendary chubby.

It mentions Canon in the text which is very hard to understand. Funny how Canon peeps love the Nikon lenses so much that they try to make them look like Canon lenses, lol.

In all fairness their paint job is damn good. Imagine the horror when you find out your masking wasn't done properly and there's lovely white Canon coloured paint inside your very expensive lens.

He he, the text is worth reading thoroughly, just for comedy purposes.

Saw this awhile ago. I wish they were in the U.S.

Would love them to re-paint a lot of my lenses, not white or anything but to remove brassing, scratches etc.

Good on them, they've found a niche.
It's more than just a masked paint job too, they really pull the lenses apart.

Don't think I'd get my done.

It reminds me of Minolta lenses some years ago. Obviously some people have too much free time. Why not just get a Lenscoat?

but I would not be so daring to put a lens through that process - especially if I get lucky enough one day to own the 200 f2.

Ha ha, that would be cool. When you get the phone call to say 'did you know your lens should be black?', just reply 'thats how it was when I bought it from the camera store'.

I'm impressed at the skill and care shown in those pictures. But I'd be terrified to put a lens through that process... to the untrained eye, it seems like there are too many things that could go wrong. I prefer black, anyway.

That was a great paint job, but I for one never liked the white lenses when I had some Canon stuff. What ever floats his boat I guess.

Actually I would not entirely mind some more white Nikon lenses (I know they made some available in "grey" overseas, do they still do this?)

It seems I tend to shoot more in hotter climates than in cold (summer trips, etc) so the white paint would help reduce thermal buildup on the lenses.

Does anyone know how they did the lettering? They don't appear to be raised at all, so it doesn't really look like decals. I can't think of any other way to get it so exact, though.
