I'm always surprised that people don't even realise that their sensors are dirty but it happens quite a lot. The seller may not have even known, or been aware.
Anyhoo, my own process is as below.
1/ Regularly check the sensor and use a blower to clean it if necessary. I do this before most jobs.
2/ If the blower doesn't work then we move to DEFCON 4, use a static brush, specifically Arctic utterfly. This works about 90% of the time.
3/ If the brush fails then we move to DEFCON 3, use the LensPen SensorKlear and that usually does the job.
4/ If the SensorKlear fails then we move to DEFCON 2, wet cleaning. I hate wet cleaning, but it works.
5/ If wet cleaning fails, or creates an even bigger mess (it's happened), then we move to DEFCON 1 and the camera gets a holiday at Canon and comes back nice and clean.
