Just for how long do pros handle their SD cards? I'm curious, as it takes me about 1s to insert or remove an SD or CF card. I know I don't handle my cards. Also with 2 16GB cards I've never even come close to having to change cards in the field on a 1 series.
UDMA is old hat, next gen CF cards will be based on SATA interface not crappy PATA interface and 1D X doesn't support it.

Because CF cards are for real men . Just kidding, I have used both SD Cards and CF Cards, and while the SD Cards are more convienent (I have a reader in my laptop for 'em), the CF Cards are way more durable, and are much easier for me to switch out, and store.

on top of it all the 1Dx supports wireless and has a gig ethernet port built in. why take it out at all?
Cf always seems to be more expensive than SD at any given size (where speeds are comparable)
Well at the time when Sandisk CF Extrime Pro came out, was no SD like this at all for year or so. While this waiting period you could get rebates on CF or get slower SD which is not the same. Now when both are there it could be that they are slightly cheaper, but not for long. Newer and faster SD models will be more expensive anyway.

Am I? This is just another new Sony product still not available telling anibody it is better then CF. And of course much more expensive. Letīs see if Sony maybe this time is able to place a photograpic product that is worth to think about. They did not the last 10 years even they bought the best but bankrupted companies ...
That Nikon made it a way into D4 is just a sign, that they sold their souls to get that sensor.
There I am with Canon staying with themselves offering just the best what is already available for free. ...Show more →
No it's not just a Sony product . Unlike memorstick
It's been developed by sandisk and Sony and taken up by the compact flash association.
But maybe it will die a death. Who knows. Personally I think it will given the speeds and sizes it's capable of (ok the announced cards are no larger than available cf's ) . But as with anything new the price is huge.
If I was to own a D4 at the moment I think I would be stacking it with a cf card .
But as history shows memory just keeps getting smaller. The SD card will probably give way to micro SD ( I notice a few new p&s's now take micro SD. . The funny thing was a couple of weeks ago I found some old memory . I had a bag that contained an few XD cards (thanks for that format Olympus ) and a Smart media card. Can't believe how big that thing was
I'm happy with Dual CF. I would be fine with dual SD card as well. I just like the fact there are two of the same type of cards, it makes it easier to work with.

Thats the point. It is easier, to work with one kind of memory card then with different types.

Absolutely!! Even though my 1d2 has both, i dont think ive ever had one in each.Seemed like a stupid idea. I always wound up using sd since I have point and shoot cameras that use SD, plus the price seemed ok on them etc. I kind of prefer the small form factor of SD as well, ive never had problems losing them or getting them into the camera.
SD sucks for me and it's worthless when I try machine gunning my MKIV indoors shooting RAW for gymnastics. Takes forever for the buffer to empty and yeah I'm using class 10. Give me 2 CF slots any day
