I have seen this stated many times here on FM. My question is: if you scratch the front element, how much does it cost to get fixed? When I called Canon and asked about repairing a 85L, they said the flat rate for "L" lenses was $365. I'm not sure if that means that a front element cost that much, but if it does, that is an expensive front element!
