I just picked up a 1d mark iin (and am loving it). However it came with no software or cables. I found EOS Utility, and the driver on the Canon site, and I used my own (know to be good) mini usb cable. My PC sees the camera properly identified as a 1d mark iin.
However the icon to control camera and change settings is grayed out and can't be selected. Is there another software I need in order to access the camera? (In fact, the only icon that is not greyed out in EOS Utility is "Monitor Folder")
All the other software for it on Canon's website are updates, and they refuse to install because I get a warning message that says the original installation or cd must be present to install.
I really want the metadata file to my name for now, and then be able to play with some of the custom functions later as I learn more about this great camera.
I've tried searching and can't find any tips on here for that yet.

You also need a 32bit OS also like Windows XP. There is no driver support from Canon for 64bit Windows 7.

Thanks svassh. Yep, I live in the past (because of my budget) :-) I'm running xp. Can't find that danged firewire cable anywhere though.
I found some neat cd's I haven't heard in years while I was looking though.

Thanks guys. I got the old owners name out, and mine in. Now I'm reading a bit to see if I want to set any personal functions etc.
