Do AF-S lenses really have hard stops? Do they mean hitting the limiter before the clutch slips? I don't know if I would rely on that for finding infinity.
None AF-S really have a hard stop. This is surprise than Nikon made 85/1.8 G this way. Good news.
Hard stop requires calibration and calibration requires extra costs. It was always a riddle why manufacturers did not apply that fundamental feature to their expensive professional lenses.
