Was out in No. CA for work last month, but managed to do some touring with my wife. (That meant limited shooting.)
We left Sacramento on a Friday evening, and spent the night in Sonora. Had a rare opportunity to cross Sonora Pass in mid-January. Spent some time in the Mono Lake, and June Lakes area before jumping on Tioga Pass to enter Yosemite. Arrived into the central part of the park just before sunset, and was able to catch a quick shot of Half Dome with some nice light. Stayed through mid-day Sunday, then headed up to San Jose for more work.
The 1st is by far my favorite! While nice, the other two seem too similar to the other Yosemite shots out there. With the colors, and the rising shadow, the 1st image is bloody phenomenal!
#1 is an 8 shot pano? Wow - you can make a billboard out of that one I like the twilight colors on the peaks - very nice one Ed. The Glacier Point pano is pretty neat as well - very nice clarity for that view. How many panels for that one?
Odd to see so little snow at this time of the year! Could be some pretty dry falls next summer. The telephoto composition of the first makes it the winner for me as well.
Thanks, all for the positive feedback on these images. This was my fourth visit to Yosemite, and am continue to be drawn to it's majesty and magnificence.

Hey, Jay. Great to hear from you. Hope all is well with you in Seattle. Been up to Fir Island this year?

Hi, Alan. Remember, I'm shooting with a 1d IV. Doesn't have the resolution of the your 5d II. Not quite billboard quality. And, I do tend to overlap quite a bit when shooting pano. The Glacier Point shot was a total of 8 tightly grouped shots.

Great place, great pictures but wondering about the missing mountain top left of Yosemite Falls?
Oops! Thanks for noticing. I must have been asleep when I posted that shot. Photomerge in CS5 seemed to recreate the landscape. Have since fixed.
