I've used one with my 80-200 2r for 6 years and it works well. Doesn't have the same feel as my TCEII build wise, but optically I can't tell the difference using my 300mm AFS f4.

It doesn't ... unless you have the AF-S 80~200/2.8. The TC-20E will not mount on either the AF or AF-D versions of the 80~200/2.8 unless the female mount is modified, and if modified it is manual focus only.
I have the Tamron 1.4x SP-AF (same as the Kenko Pro 300 1.4x) and it performs surprisingly well with the 80~200/2.8D.
