I'm considering an inexpensive TC for my 80-200 f/2.8. How does the Nikon TC-20e AF-I TC perform on this lens?

Pretty sure you won't be happy with any 2X TC on that zoom I'm afraid.

It plays pretty well with the 1.4's Mark...and the Kenko DG being a great value, no doubt.

Agree with Trench. My Kenko 1.4 TC played well with my NIkon 80-200 f2.8 D lens.

I've used one with my 80-200 2r for 6 years and it works well. Doesn't have the same feel as my TCEII build wise, but optically I can't tell the difference using my 300mm AFS f4.

It doesn't ... unless you have the AF-S 80~200/2.8. The TC-20E will not mount on either the AF or AF-D versions of the 80~200/2.8 unless the female mount is modified, and if modified it is manual focus only.

I have the Tamron 1.4x SP-AF (same as the Kenko Pro 300 1.4x) and it performs surprisingly well with the 80~200/2.8D.
