hi,

trying to learn nikon and you should know learning never came easy to me.

so please . . .

i hear people talking the D700 can do 8 fps but when i put the md-10 grip on the body the menu says i can adjust the fps from like 2-7. no 8

am i missing something?

Might depend on the battery type.

I have an EN-EL3 for my D700 and it shows 8fps in the menu. If I use the battery tray for AA batteries no matter what type I use I never get more than 7, and after a few minutes the power drops of HUGE!!!!!!!

Are you using 8 AA batteries or the the rechargeable EN-EL4/a in the battery pack? Make sure the settings are for high continuous shooting mode (CH).

That reminds me I am confused by Nikons battery naming

Either set the body up to run off of the en-el4a first, or take the battery out of the body. Then all should be well.

you simply need to supply 11.1 vdc. thats an EN-EL4 or EN-EL4a battery pack. to use them you also need a BL-3 battery chamber cover.

The menu you are refering to is the CL Mode Shooting Speed

CL is Continous Low Speed shooting. it is selectable from 2-7 shots.

The CH mode is Continuos High and will shoot (upto 8 fps with the grip.

In the old days one could "overclock" film cameras by increasing the voltage/current to the motor drive sometimes, but that is not so with digital. The sensor and image processing have specific design limits.

You need to use rechargeable batteries, not Duracell or other alkaline batteries. I use Eneloops personally and it works beautifully at 8fps.

Yes, and you can use Alkaline batteries.

That adjustment setting is for the CL mode to set what fps you want in CL. CH mode is for 8fps with the grip and AA batteries or the battery from the D3 can be used.

i used 8 rechargeable batteries (2500 mhs) and it worked. but. . . for some reason the battery pack didn't stay connected in camera and it would go back to 5 fps. frustrating.
