p.3 #1 · Why I'm not going to purchase anything from or through Amazon

With tablet becoming more mainstream, ebooks are the future. It is smart of Barne and Noble to develop the Nook but it is still not enough. I haven't checked but I hope they're building apps to work on other tablets. I can't even remember the last time I bought a book at a store. They never have anything I'm looking for. I do what people tend to do, just go to relax in a corner and read for free.
With my school books costing $250 a piece and heavy as a bowling ball, I can't wait for ebooks to be more mainstream. Only bad thing I see is that I won't be able to resell the book....Show more →
All I know is that lots of books I never would've known existed if it hadn't been for brick and mortar book stores.
And it can be very helpful to page through as you wish and compare books.
Nothing beats browsing (in real life) and sometimes it's kinda nice to just get out of the damn house on to stop staring at a screen, alone.
The big books stores also have extensive magazine racks, no way to replicate that on Amazon (well sure there is if you buy them, but to browse through stuff you might just randomly buy an issue of this or that of, not so much).
Now for novels maybe it doesn't really matter much, but for other things....
Also LCD based tablets simply are not as readable, the e-readers lack color, neither has the proper resolution yet for nice photos. Of course these issues will be solved over time, the resolution thing, at least in LCD form, soon enough.
