I came accross these pictures a few days ago, from high key near-monochrome to rich yellow/green. No, you can't count individual feathers on those birds.

Edit: the thread has been shut down in order to make room for a new one.

Thank you, Douglas and Ken.
I think this one should go into the set as well, although it's removed a bit from conventional bird photography.

I think the first is a super shot Peter, it has grace, interaction and a bit of mystery from the high key aspect. Really well done

I'm with many others here, Peter. The fist is a very strong image. Love the comp and action.

Each one of these has something special going for it Peter.
All with lovely comps even though I would never have thought of putting the swans so far to the left of the frame in # 3 but it seems to work well too.
# 1 is a beauty.

Thank you all very much for your kind input and comments.
Indeed, I'd tend to agree with you for favouring No.1.......very often it is the "haiku" simplicity of a photograph that offers some rest to an oversaturated eye.

Forgive me for not responding to each of you individually, but that would require a good number of posts, and therebay take away from the space that other members might use with their pictures.

We shall shut this thread down now so that we can replace it with a new one, this time with some flying birds which were not distant.
