Great birds! Would love to see some of the Brazilian Cardinals, too. Looks like your 400, as with mine, is a bit soft at 5.6. You could have tightened up the aperture a little towards f7.1 and still have a fast enough shutter speed. Try that. I find mine does much better at f7.1 and up. Is Hawaii your home? So many awesome birds to shoot there!

Thanks Morris. I am still learning so thats an excellent suggestion. Still trying to figure out what basic steps one needs to do in post processing.

Squareeeyez: I see what you are saying. I will try at 7.1 and see if it makes a difference. Yes I live on the North Shore of Oahu so this is home for me. Lots of birds here for sure but forest birds are harder to shoot. I think we have 400 species on the islands!
