Just for the heck of it, I decided to shoot some Jr. High wrestling tonight using the Demb Flip with my flash as I had it just sitting around the house. A little surprised at the results that I got with it as I thought that it would underexpose the shots. Shot with 580EX with the Flip, on camera, ETTL mode, Mark3, 70-200/2.8 at F4, manual mode, ss@250, ISO 800. Here are some samples that I got with it.
It's a reflector that you attach to your flash. Mostly used for portrait work. Not meant to advertise the product but I've used it mostly for T&I stuff and portrait work. Wasn't sure how it would work shooting sports is why I decided to give it a try tonight. I don't get the harsh look with direct on camera flash.
I used the Classic Flip-it and it was angled at a little less than 90 degrees(around 70) instead of straight up. That's the beauty of this gadget as you can vary the angles to your liking. Subjects were around 15 to 25 feet away.
Here's a couple that I shot last year at the same venue WITHOUT the Flip. Same gear and settings.
Jerry... I used the classic flip yesterday... when some guy cut me off on the highway.
Seriously though, I like what I'm seeing here. I have used the Gary Fong Lightsphere and Whale Tale over the years, not so much anymore nowadays, but the Fong worked nicely with similar results
