I downloaded the latest Camera Raw for CS3 and can now open .cr2 files! Thanks so much Randy. This site is just amazing with the sharing and willingness to help others!

Okay then - after running updates for CS3 I was able to get through the action supplied by Tim here without getting the errors I had previously
I still have a lot of learning to do with settings, but mostly just went with the defaults of the action. Here's the first "sort of" successful image that I ran through it. I kind of was looking forward to this image as the baby GHO stood up far enough to see it's legs for the first time.
Now I can't wait to go through and learn more

Thanks Tim. Truly a great post. I've been trying to learn things myself and the process is slow. I do much of my processing in Light Room, but this has some advantages. You are the Forum Master!!! Don

Took me a sec to get it (then I read the instructions more carefully) and suddenly everything just clicked. Great automated tool but also a great teaching tool as well. Nice combination of automation and customizability. Gonna have to play with it some more. Thanks so much for sharing!

Incredible to see how different you PP flow is to mine
It's like we work in different formats or something
Yeah we do things differently Nello. I like my way and you like your way

Tim, Thanks for the tips. What really helps me is the action keeps me from over sharpening and messing up noise removal. Tried a floral or two and a landscape with decent results. Dick
Good to hear Dick. The more you use it the better you get with it

I tried the action this morning and ran it on autopilot (without changing anything) to see how it compared to what I do in CS5. To my eyes i am very impressed. This took less than 1 minute (remember I changed nothing along the way).

Your amazing images are always a joy --- and it's wonderful that you're willing to pass along insights --- but a question: Is there an equivalent for LightRoom 3. Obviously since it not Photoshop it would be more limited --- just wondered if you might know.
Thanks Again for all the great images and the spirit of sharing.
Charles
You are very generous with your words Charles, thank you!
As far as Lightroom is concerened, Lightroom is essentially ACR in Photoshop so it is the first step. I use Lightroom to process now and again, I set all the controls the same way I do in ACR. Unfortunately you do need PS to finish the images, Lightroom just doesn't have that capability.

Wow Tim, what a journey!!! I'm soooo glad to hear you finally got it all together. Now sit back and relax and get to understand the process and I think you'll be happy you did!
