in LR3 slide your vibrance up a smidge, see if you like the color. These need a little color pop, or perhaps a little more saturation. But I sound like an ass, processing is always a matter of taste. The shots themselves are really great! What a fun subject to shoot!

You don't sound like an ass........ This was the first gymnastics meet I had been to in my life. I'm not sure what any of the moves, poses, routines or whatever you call them are or when you were supposed to time them. I just figured I'd go shoot it for experience. I'll try adjusting in LR as you suggested.

Welcome to FM and great job on your first gymnastics shoot. In addition to the suggestions you've received above, here are a few more from a seasoned, battle-weary amateur:
1) Search out and study posts by Russ Isabella and Blue Reptile.
2) If and when possible, try to shoot from a lower angle.
3) Try to be really creative (so I can copy your ideas).
I agree with the others that your compositions and timing are very good. The backgrounds are ugly, as is often the case, but something you should try to control to the best of your abilities. Like you, I need to learn the witchcraft that makes images pop. Faves are 1-4 and 6.

I, personally, have never photographed this sport but can appreciate the skill required.. Very nice first post.. Being new to LR3 I thought this site might interest you.. http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-lightroom-3/ ..

Thanks for the input and critique so far. Who's this Russ fella? I'm guessing he shoots a lot of gymnastics? For those of you that are "in the know" with gymnastics, at a typical competition are all the events going on at once or do they do them one at a time?
EDIT: I found Russ' gymnastics shots. Yes, his "pop" more than mine. His POV also looks like he has floor access, I was in the stands. Maybe I'll have to try and bribe someone to get on the floor! ;-) Nice job Russ!
