There are lot's of Mergansers down here this year! Nice shots. I live just north of you and Roseate Spoonbill's are sparse. They're such cool looking birds!

Jim, what a nice bird, that Spoonbill.
I think the first shot is the best of the bunch...a true Florida feel.
The others are fine, but they would benefit from a somewhat lower perspective. I do not think it is neccessary to roll in the muck with your camera ....even if you are able to kneel on the water's edge that usually does it. Obviously, sometimes that is not possible or safe, so we do what we can.

An excellent set.
Pardon my choice of words, Jim, but your spoonbill is an odd duck .
Such beautiful colors and such an unusual beak. Perfect for its eating habits, of course, just odd to look at.

Hey Peter, thanks for the advise and pick.... these are the kind of suggestions that I like to hear and really help me think about what I need to be concentrating on...I totally agree with you about the lower angle too.. ....wish I could have gotten down and dirty on these but the only vantage point was from a very small boardwalk platform with no lower angle available....

Nice little backyard spot you've got. Did you find the red shouldered hawks yet...spent some time with a few my one time there...and a bellowing gator too. Have fun Jim.
