In the post Will Patterson here ( thanks for that Will ) started on the 200-400L and 600 mk II in the wild there is in fact more exciting news hidden. The 5D mk II successor seems to be not far away anymore. What do all the Canon experts here think of this?

Judging by how similar the rear of the camera looks compared to the 7D, I'd say it's the 7D mark II. Only weird thing is a lack of a pop up flash.
This is not a 7D. The top of the camera is clear enough this big to have the pentaprism for full frame coverage. That is also the reason why there is no flash up there. No room for that in a Canon full frame body at this size.

I wouldn't put any stock into button placement--it makes sense for Canon to start producing bodies with the same layout.
What are the odds that one of those mystery cameras(or a lens) get left behind in the coffee shop accidentally by a Canon employee like those from Apple did with their pesky new iphones?
Imo its a calculated (wished) leak.
D800 is rumored since month and rumored now to be announced 7th of Febrary. What is better than choosing to show an "accident" picture of a Canon follow up competitor?
Accidents like that do not happen. They are part of marketing.
5D MK III YES! Why are you so sure this is a 5DmkIII Ralph? Shouldn't this be the merger model of the 7D and 5DmkII which makes it the 5Dx? We know you will you be happy to give up a few megapixels for better megapixels and all the other features this camera has, but is everyone happy with that

I would say that if they wanted to keep it secret when on safari, why would you talk to obviously curious photographers instead of moving on to another location?
Seriously it does not matter the name, but what's inside. With 1D X FF now hitting 12-14fps, a 5D III could go as high as 8fps and not step on it's toes. Before this was not possible with 1Ds III being a paltry 5fps, 5D II could never offer more than 4fps. A 21MP digic V, 8fps FF sounds like a perfect fit to me.
